Cargo fence semi-trailer refers to the semi-trailer designed with fence structure at the loading part. It is mainly used for the transportation of agricultural, sideline products, and other light goods.



 

Brief History of 3 Axle Cargo Fence Semi Trailer

  • Around 2008, with the strengthening of national overload control in China, the demand for lightweight vehicles in the transportation market became more urgent. Normally, the curb weight of the cargo fence semi-trailer is about 2T to 3T lighter than that of the van semi-trailer. As the popularization and application of high-strength steel for automobile increased, the weight of fence semi-trailer greatly reduced as well. Generally speaking, the dead weight of the 13 meter long fence trailer is 6T to 6.5T, which is obviously better than that of the van type semi-trailer.

  •  At the same time, the relevant national departments have further clarified the detection standards of van semi-trailer: the top is closed and can not be opened and no more than two opposite opening doors are allowed on the side, at which point  the advantage of convenient use of van semi-trailer has disappeared.

  •  Therefore, cargo fence trailer began to gradually replace the van semi-trailer in some fields. The application of cargo fence trailer developed rapidly with its flexible and complete functions, and its variety and structure were moderately improved, which also occupied an absolute advantage in the overall number of semi-trailers.

  •  At this stage, with its unique edge, cargo fence semi-trailer has become the main implementattion of highway transportation. With its advantages of strong specialization, large loading capacity, fast transportation, convenient disassembly, wide use and low investment cost, cargo fence trailer has been rapidly developed and widely used driven by social and economic factors such as energy conservation and environmental protection.

Classification of 3 Axle Cargo Fence Semi Trailer

In order to adapt to the need of different cargo transportation, cargo fence semi-trailer has evolved from earliest simple door opening mode to a variety of door opening modes such as single-layer and double-layer gate, and long lock handle and short lock handle fenc trailers.

Single-layer and Double-layer Cargo Fence trailers 

  • Single-layer and double-layer cargo fence trailers were more commonly seen structures in the much earlier time.

  • The height from the bottom plate to the top of the fence of a single-layer cargo fence trailer is generally no more than 1800mm, and the fence is easy to disassemble.

  • The height from the bottom plate to the top of the fence of the double-layer cargo fence trailer is generally more than 1800mm. A easier way to understand this structure is that a cargo fence has been added on top of the side wall trailer. The double-layer cargo fence trailer is more frenquently used due to its stronger cargo fence stength.

These two kinds of semi trailers are mainly used for long-distance transportation, such as agricultural and sideline products, steel, light bubble goods with large volume, etc.

Long Lock Handle and Short Lock Handle Cargo Fence Trailer

  • The long lock handle fence trailer was developed on the basis of the early van type semi-trailer coal transportation. The side of the these trailers can be fully opened and has a long lock handle structure. Due to the changes in the national technical requirements for the van semi-trailer and its large mass, it was gradually replaced by the long lock handle cargo fence trailer.

  • Generally speaking, when the body length of long lock handle semi-trailer is more than 11 meters, there are three pairs of doors on each side. When the length is less than 11 meters, there are two pairs of doors on each side.

  • The top of the long lock handle fence trailer is completely open, which is convenient for loading with mechanical equipment. When the canvas is nailed on the inner side on the side of the fence, the four sides are basically closed, which has the function of a van trailer. When the side doors are all opened, the door opening is relatively large, which allows the unloading of forklift and other engineering machinery. It also makes it possible to push the coal, sand and stone out of the carriage. As we can see, the unloading is extremely convenient.

Cargo Fence Trailer with Short Lock Handle
  • Normally, the length of the short lock handle cargo fence trailer is 13 meter long, and the height from the bottom plate to the top of the fence is no more than 1800mm.

  • Compared with the long lock handle type, the short lock handle fence trailer has no side wall at the top, and the lock handles are shorter so the weight is lighter. Canvas is also nailed to the inside of the side fence. Due to the lack of upper wall, the anti inflation ability of the fence is poor. A tension rope is usually welded under the opposite opeing door. A baffle for steel wire fastening is installed on the top, and a lock plate is located wihtin the gap of the fence. Each pair of opposite opening fence is fastened with steel wire rope.

  • In addition to transporting coal, sand and gravel, this type of cargo fence trailer can also carry out long-distance logistics transportation.

Disadvantage of 3 Axle Cargo Fence Semi Trailer

  • According to the technical requirements of the industry, when the product is declared and announced, the inner part of the fence trailer is not allowed to equip roll bar. Due to the large height from the bottom plate to the top of the fence, the overall strength of the carriage is weak. If there is no roll bar, there will be serious flex to the fence when overloading the trailer, which will cause damage and danger during transport.

  • The cargo fence and column will be bent and deformed, and the types of goods transported will also be limited. For example, goods with serious box expansion bulk grain, coal, sand and gravel will not be transported with cargo fence trailer.
